Hi, I'm Wendee.
A midwesterner with southern sensibilities. Born in Los Angeles, raised in Canton, Ohio and Houston, Texas, who now calls Chicago home. Nearly twenty years chasing a dream that started on a stage, and a whole life built around it.
The dream begins.
Long before the boardrooms and the broadcasts, there was a little girl in Houston who was certain she was born for the stage. I sang in the living room, performed for anyone who would sit still, and fell hard for musicals before I understood what a career even was. The dream was simple and total. I wanted to be up there, in the light, making people feel something.
That girl never left. She trained at Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, graduated with honors, studied English and Spanish at Vanderbilt, and chased the dream all the way to New York. Every stage and every camera that came after started with her.
From Broadway to broadcasting.
The dream took me further than I imagined. On Broadway and on tour, I performed in Play On!, Mamma Mia!, and Sophisticated Ladies, ran the boards in STOMP Out Loud in Las Vegas, and played Carnegie Hall, Radio City, and Lincoln Center. Then came television. As a news anchor and entertainment reporter at KTNV-ABC in Las Vegas, I learned a faster kind of live: the interview, the pivot, the segment that has to land the first time. Today that same instinct shows up in the boardroom, where I facilitate Cornell University's Executive Presence and Women in Leadership programs and emcee, moderate, and keynote for companies who need someone they can trust with the room.
Who I am off the stage.
Family sits at the center.
Raven is my daughter. My greatest joy. The person who has stretched me, softened me, and sharpened me all at once. Watching her become fearless, multilingual, culturally fluent, and deeply kind is a tremendous source of pride for me.
Advocacy.
As a working Broadway performer, I helped raise funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative. In Houston, I partnered with Rescued Pets Movement as a pet foster family to protect and transport vulnerable animals. At KTNV-ABC in Las Vegas, I hosted Nevada SPCA pet adoption segments because I know visibility saves lives.
When I'm not on stage.
- I'm traveling. Forty-two international destinations and counting.
- Sitting in a theater somewhere, because I still love watching the magic unfold.
- Breaking bread with friends and family. Good food. Loud laughter. Long conversations and love.
